Toxic Food for the Masses Part One – GMOs, Glyphosate, and You

Among the troves of man-made disasters that many of us see coming down the road, there is actually one of epic proportions currently underway. Yet, it seems that too few have yet to recognize it for what it is.  Of course, I’m talking about the worldwide health disaster being caused by GMOs and glyphosate. In this series, I’ll talk more about the scientific research that proves their toxic and invasive nature and how they may be affecting your family’s long-term health.

The World Health Organization describes GMO’s as “…organisms in which the genetic material (DNA) has been altered in a way that does not occur naturally. The technology is referred to as “modern biotechnology”, “gene technology”, “recombinant DNA technology”, or just plain old “genetic engineering”. Whatever you want to call it, genetic manipulation allows selected genes to be taken from one organism and forced into another unrelated species.

It is important to realize that the genes used to develop GMO plants and food crops can and often do belong to any number of living organisms, including unrelated plants, animals, insects, bacteria, viruses, fungi, and even human genes.

People who have a deep and abiding faith in a Creator God of any kind should be especially horrified at this Island of Dr. Moreau experiment on the human population. If God had intended rice and mice to splice mad scientists wouldn’t have to force DNA from one species into another using viruses as a vector – it would happen naturally.

While I certainly don’t intend to eat any mice in the near future, nearly half of the world’s population relies on rice as a staple food source. Until there is a real law that requires the listing of GMO ingredients we cannot trust that the food we buy in the grocery stores isn’t made with a mutant strain of monkey virus or worse (like we saw happen with the SV40 vaccine debacle in the 1960’s).

There are very real concerns as to how genetically modified foods act upon the human and animal body. Not only were the big biotech companies allowed free reign to play God with our food, they also got to carry out and present their own research to the FDA and USDA to “prove” that GMO foods and their associated herbicides and pesticides were safe for human consumption. The Big 6 Franken-Food purveyors are BASF, Bayer, DuPont, Dow Chemical Company, Monsanto, and Syngenta.  And just recently, Monsanto’s was bought out by German-owned Bayer in one of the biggest ag megamergers in decades.

The wolf in sheep’s clothing is guarding the pasture, and if you want to eat or farm or sell seed, you had better get on board or be prepared to be lied to, coerced, or run out of business.

The powerful lobby of these chemical companies, who brought the world delights such as Agent Orange and DDT, are granted all manner of privileges by cowardly government officials who don’t dare confront them.

Among the many free passes given to these almighty chemical companies include the acceptance of laughable in-house research studies that are clearly manipulated either by their own lackey scientists or by bought-off labs and universities to raise little, if any cause for alarm.

In fact, long before the FDA was cow-towed by the powerful hammer of Monsanto, their own scientists repeatedly warned that GM foods might create unpredictable and hard-to-detect side effects, such as increasing food allergies, a build-up of toxins in the body, newly emerging diseases and “conditions”, a worsening of existing diseases and syndromes, nutritional problems, and serious digestive disorders such as leaky gut syndrome – a precursor to celiac and other digestive disorders.  I’ll talk about this again later in this series.

Yet, even as long-term safety studies of GMO crops were being called for by the FDA, reports of their detrimental impacts were already flooding in.

In India, thousands of sheep, buffalo, and goats died after grazing on Round-Up Ready Bt cotton plants. Mice that ate GM corn had fewer and smaller babies and exhibited signs of aggression, confusion and unsocial behavior – the same behaviors found in the human disease, autism.

Additional studies demonstrated that more than half of the babies born to mother rats that were fed GM soy died within three weeks. Hamsters that were fed GM soy lost the ability to have babies by the third generation. Rodents fed GM corn and soy showed immune system dysfunction and signs of toxicity.

The stomach lining of rats fed GM potatoes showed excessive cell growth, a condition that may lead to cancer. One study on animals that ate GM food found that they developed organ lesions, altered liver and pancreas cells, changed enzyme levels, and many other disturbing effects. All these studies and more were done in the early GMO years.

Even the American Academy of Environmental Medicine (AAEM) reports, “…several animal studies indicate serious health risks associated with GM food consumption including infertility, immune dysregulation, accelerated aging, dysregulation of genes associated with cholesterol synthesis, insulin regulation, cell signaling, and protein formation, and changes in the liver, kidney, spleen and gastrointestinal system.”

The AAEM was so disturbed by their studies that they took an important and historically significant stand by asking physicians to advise their patients to avoid GM foods.

It is quite apparent that there is more than a casual association between GM foods and adverse health effects. Increasingly, genetically modified foods are being blamed for sudden increases in incidences of autism and Alzheimer’s disease in areas where GMOs were recently introduced into the food system – a fact that has many increasingly concerned for the health and wellbeing of their loved ones.  And that’s where we’ll start next week in Part Two of Toxic Food for the Masses.  See you then!

    • Thank you, Jerre. I know there are many people out there suffering from the effects of GMO’s and glyphosate poisoning who are often misdiagnosed and find little relief from conventional treatments. By reducing or eliminating GMO foods and detoxifying their bodies, many find the cures they’ve been looking for. It’s hard to escape GMOs, but it can be done. I know I’m working on it myself and it’s not always easy.

  3. Interesting article Jill, pointing out the GMO and its effects on the human body. I remember the day when I realized something strange was happening with the fruits and vegetables in Canada. One day I bought a few apples, to make a cake and I left two extra apples to consume on the kitchen table. I went on with my daily routine and I forgot about the apples. Two months passed by, one day I found the apples unchanged, they had the same color, taste and were non-browning I made some research and found out that the apples, strawberries, tomatoes, apricots all the fruits never got brown, you could leave them on the table for months. They had the same shape, size, and they were shiny, they never rot either, kept the same color, I have never seen something like this before as I was raised with organic food.
    That was the day when I discovered GMO. I realized then why food always tasted as plastic. I researched further and I also found out about the food irradiation. All the food imported in Canada was irradiated. Irradiation is done to extend the life of foods on the shelf and to slow the ripening or sprouting of fresh fruits and vegetables, but that is as harmful as GMO as it causes cancer.
    I researched the beer and alcoholic beverages and I found out that they contain GMO corn syrup, high fructose corn, fish bladder, coloring. Normally a beer has only 4 ingredients: barley, hops, yeast and water. Juices, pops have the same GMO ingredients besides the food. The ingredients are not mentioned on the beverages, beer, wines, so you never know what you drink.
    After visiting Mexico and tasting their great organic food everything was obvious to me about GMO. As you point out the in the article Jill, GMO is toxic for people and dangerous, many people get sick overtime and the government does not care about people’s safety, it’s all a business for them they collude with the Big 6 corporations to maximize their profits. They don’t care that people get cancer from irradiation and die. They are killing the masses on purpose.
    That is sad and I think God will get angry one day and will put an end to this.

  4. Thanks, Laura. It’s amazing what is put in and on and done to food these days. I get that shelf life is important, but when food doesn’t degrade naturally as it should that is a serious warning sign. There have been several demonstrations that woke me up – margarine that not even the ants would touch, hamburgers and buns that never degraded, even after years without refrigeration, etc. This is why it is so important to buy from local farmers and producers, choose organic whenever possible, read ingredient lists, and grow as much of your own food as possible! The further food has to travel, the more likely it is to have been “preserved”.
