Hi there! My name is Jill Henderson and I am the editor and chief dishwasher here at Show Me Oz. I know you’re curious about the blog’s name, so I’ll just go ahead and tell you. I live in Missouri, which is also known as the Show Me state, and Oz is short for the Ozarks, which is the place I call home. I also sometimes feel like I live in Oz (as in the Wizard of..) because this place is so unbelievably beautiful and just a little out of touch with the rest of the world.
Show Me Oz is filled with in-depth, well-researched, original articles and guest posts on gardening, seed saving, homesteading, wild-crafting, edible and medicinal plants, herbs, nature, food and so much more.
I wear a lot of different hats, including that of author. I’ve written four books, which I shamelessly promote here in order to pay the bills and keep writing great articles for you. So, if you’d like to support the continuance of Show Me Oz, please consider buying one of my or my husband’s books from the Show Me Oz bookstore.
Other ads seen on this site are not mine, but those placed here by Word Press. I DO NOT make any money off of, nor do I endorse those ads or the products they promote.
I am a lifelong organic gardener and seed saver with a passion for sustainable agriculture and local food production. I often give presentations and workshops on the detrimental impacts of bio-engineered food crops (GMO’s) and teach gardeners how to grow and save open-pollinated and heirloom seeds at home. I also happen to write professionally. You can find my work regularly in Acres USA magazine and Llewellyn’s Herbal Almanac, among others. I hope you find the blog to be filled with authoritative and well-researched articles that you can use in your everyday lives. Thanks for stopping by, please take a moment to say hello and add to the conversation!
All the best,
Jill
